My August was 'just write'
I took August 'off' to finish my second book... my first novel. If you look at it a different way, it's really my first book, because I actually wrote it when I was 21. I 'took a year off' after finishing my first degree, holed myself up in a bedsit in north Oxford - and sat down to write this tale - of a young man who's lost his way in life, finding his purpose - and a whole new philosophy of life - through driving lessons with the story's heroine. If I were to give it a genre, I'd say it was an inspirational love story: something of the Richard Bach ilk (remember Jonathan Livingston Seagull and Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah)?Anyway, this book has been sitting under my bed since I wrote it - well, since I sent it to a publisher a month or so after I finished it and received a rejection letter - an encouraging one, but it was still a rejection letter. And I've recently been given a nudge to get it out, dust it off and get it out there. So, here I was, sitting under a tree in rural Somerset to complete this story - a tale that's lived in me since my early twenties! There's something about clearing (and honouring) the energy of something that's lived with you for that long. And, on some levels, the themes of this tale have weaved their way through through the experiences of my life ever since, so there's a bit of the autobiographical in there too.The book will probably be available as an eBook as well as a hard-copy book, some time in future. So let me know if you'd like me to hold you back a copy (though it may be a little while before it's fit for public consumption).
