The transformative power of love

This really is one of my favourite times of the year… not just because Spring is just round the corner - in fact the first crocuses are already out - but simply because it's Valentine’s Week! And every time I announce this (which is most years, I suppose), my announcement is often met with consternation and surprise! Yes, of course, like Christmas, Valentine's Day has become commercial and fraught with obligation for many… but I don’t need to get involved in that, do I?For me, it's an excuse to celebrate the greatest of all teachers, the transformational power of love. In all its many forms.I tend to dedicate the day to the internal process of ‘melting into love’ – the love I feel for children in my life, for animals, for men that I care about, for girlfriends of mine, for my family… It becomes almost like a meditation. And celebrating and expressing the power of this greatest and most humbling of all teachers. As I do on any other day, I suppose…
